Mijune Pak

Mijune is the founder and personality behind the popular food and travel blog www.followmefoodie.com. Named industry’s “Must Follow” at The Social Media Awards, it is internationally recognized and respected as one of the top ones in Canada. She is also the food columnist for the Westender, culinary host on Novus TV, honorary media judge for BC Chefs' Association, and judge for the Canadian Grand Prix New Product Awards. Ken Clark

General Manager, Corporate Brands, Western Family

Ken began his career in the retail grocery business back in 1971.  He has worked, managed and led Teams in every area of the business and has had the good fortune of having the opportunity of working for and learning from a number of very good organizations like Steinberg/Miracle Food Mart, Loeb/IGA, Loblaw’s/National Grocers, Ontario Pork Marketing Board, the Oshawa Group and IBP/Lakeside Packers.

For the past twenty-one years he has had the great pleasure to call Save On Foods home where he has been a member of the Senior Management Team.  Ken’s role today is General Manager of Corporate Brands where he and his Team are responsible for the Western Family private label brand development and direction for all areas of the business.

Save On Foods operates 164 stores throughout Western Canada under the following banners: Save On Foods, PriceSmart Foods, Urban Fare and Bulkley Valley Wholesale.

James Street

Industry Consultant, Food Processing, BC Ministry of Agriculture

James Street is the Food Processing Lead for the Sector Development Branch of the BC Ministry of Agriculture.

A strong force in the Food Processing and Foodservice industries for over 25 years, James has been at the forefront of new product innovation, infrastructure and local supply chain development. James is a Red Seal Chef and owns Stellar Food Group, a manufacturer of multiple products including but not limited to gluten free mixes, sausages, nitrate free bacon and gourmet fruit preserves. Through his own enterprises and as a director on many boards, James has strategized the creation of new markets, strategic messaging and niche products adapting to an ever changing consumer palate.

His vision is to navigate the BC Agrifood sector in its many challenges and through to realizing new opportunities in an ever changing economy.

Dave Eto

President, Advocacy CommitteeQuami SA

Dave started working in the food industry in 1985 after graduating with a Bachelor in  Agriculture specializing in Food Science from the University of BC.  Starting as a Quality Assurance technician with Mrs. Willman’s Baking, Dave steadily moved into roles of increased responsibility – his first managerial role with Gourmet Baker as QA Manager was the beginning of many other managerial positions with several other companies:  Great Little Box Company (Operations Manager), Bread Garden/Creekside (General Manager), Premium Brands (Director Corporate Affairs), BC Dairy Association (CEO) and most recently Naturally Splendid (CEO) represents Dave’s diverse and extensive experience in the food sector. The last two positions as CEO were opportunities to exercise exponential strategic changes and forge major shifts in organizational culture that were embraced by everyone.

Concurrent to his roles in business Dave also participated in organizations that promote the food sector and mentor “up and coming’ leaders.  The BC Food Processors Association represents over 500 members and Dave was Vice Chair and Chair for nine years.  He participated on numerous governmental advisory committees such as the BC Food Safety Stakeholder group and Agri-food Advisory Council (hosted by Minister Norm Letnick) that introduced the provinces Agri-food and Seafood Growth Strategy in Nov 2015. 

Dave is also very honoured to be part of UBC’s Tri-mentoring program where he engages students in the faculty of Land and Food Systems and provides mentorship and coaching towards their graduation and entrance into the business world.  At UBC, where efforts to build BC’s first Innovation Centre have begun, Dave serves as the Chair of the Value Chain Working Group – a collection of stakeholders committed to developing the operational plan of the centre. 

In June 2017, Dave joined the Canadian Centre of Food Integrity Board focussing to enhance the knowledge and understanding by Canadians, the importance of our food system.

Danny Markowicz

Executive Chef, White Spot & Triple O’s

Promoted to Executive Chef in May 2014, Danny Markowicz brings more than 20 years of diverse culinary experience to White Spot and Triple O’s.

Danny completed his Red Seal designation at Southern Alberta Institute of Technology with an apprenticeship at the Fairmont Banff Springs Hotel, and moved to Vancouver to pursue his passion at the Pan Pacific Hotel and Diva at the Met. Prior to joining White Spot & Triple O’s, he led menu development at Browns Social House.

An integral part of the White Spot family since 2010, Danny’s transition from Executive Development Chef to Executive Chef was earned through huge accolades from both guests and staff, and for his menu innovation – including healthy choices such as the Tandoori Cauliflower Quinoa salad along with popular entrees like  Mexicali Fish Tacos and Chicken & Mushroom Fettuccine Alfredo, and conversation-starting features like the Peanut Butter, Bacon, & Jalapeño Burger and the Poutine Burger and the re-launch of the most requested item of all time, Chicken Pick’ns.

Danny’s rare level of creativity, unfalteringly positive attitude and deep understanding of the hospitality business make any culinary challenge an exciting possibility.

When not in the kitchen, Danny can be found supporting the local music scene or travelling the world with his snorkel in tow.
