Established in 1917, JD Sweid Foods (JD Sweid) is a major food processor specializing in meat proteins, with products quality and customer service at the core of its success. Now one of the largest value added poultry processors in Canada, JD Sweid services both the retail and foodservice channels and offers high quality beef, chicken and pork products to customers across Canada.
A privately-owned Canadian company, JD Sweid Foods was acquired in 2013 by Hallmark Farms (Hallmark) providing this family owned and operated company with vertical integration in the Canadian Poultry market. JD Sweid operates two facilities, in Langley, and Waterloo, and employs approximately 600 people who are working to provide world class customers with high quality products. JD Sweid’s customer list includes Costco (Hampton House brand) Loblaws, Sobeys, Overwaitea Group, A&W, DQ and Burger King. The company has a proven track record with respect to food safety and looks to continually improve health and safety across the workplace.
The retirement of JD Sweid’s long-time President is creating an opportunity for a new leader to take on an organization operating in an extremely competitive industry which is constantly looking for operational efficiencies and alternative business strategies to optimize earnings for its parent company. JD Sweid’s executive team has been very stable and is comprised of many long-term leaders who have developed an enviable culture that is consistent with the family values of its Hallmark owners. Providing a fresh perspective to the organization while maintaining the strong culture will be a balance for which the new President will strive to achieve.
As the ideal candidate, you are an experienced executive from a large, multi-site, value-added food processing organization, with a strong background in Operations, preferably with experience in the RTE category. Your experience in a family-owned organization is a significant asset. Your strong leadership, strategic thinking and operational skills will navigate JD Sweid through the next phase of its evolution.
