PRODUCTION LEAD HAND – GRAVEYARD SHIFT

POSITION SUMMARY

The Production Lead Hand supports their production team with coordinating their activities and ensuring that all operational work and tasks for their production lines are completed in a safe, effective, and efficient manner. The incumbent is also responsible for operating production machinery, ensuring materials used for production and products made are within quality expectations, reporting daily operations to Production Management Team and relaying company policies and decisions to production workers.

The successful candidate will have impeccable leadership and problem-solving skills to direct the team by effectively communicating and motivating team members.  

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Conducts startup checks and routine inspections to ensure machinery is operable and ready for the safe production of food
  • Understands all aspects of the SOP’s, including ingredient preparation, proper production methods and quality standards
  • Ensures all equipment are operating in a smooth and efficient manner
  • Reviews daily production schedule, labor schedule and bean-loading plan
  • Performs general preventative maintenance and minor repairs such as replacing sealing plates or gaskets
  • Ensures safety features are in place during production
  • Ensures that all equipment is properly sanitized as GMP requires before production starts
  • Conducts pre-startup and post-operation checks with QA and Maintenance staff
  • Promotes, complies and adheres to SQF, OHS and GMP standards, requirements and practices
  • Participates in daily bean loading with production workers
  • Establishes and promotes a positive team-oriented work environment emphasizing employee involvement, pro-active communication, inter-departmental cooperation, and continual improvement on all levels
  • Ensures that members of the team are trained in all production and quality procedures
  • Identifies and implements efficiency performance indicators to improve the performance of all members of the team
  • Other duties as assigned by the Production Management team

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

  • High school diploma or equivalent qualification
  • Courses in Operations Management, Supervision, Leadership or related an asset
  • Minimum 3 + years production experience
  • Strong problem solving skills and ability to identify and resolve issues in a timely manner
  • Effective organizational, prioritization and time management skills
  • Strong communication skills in English (both written and verbal)
  • Ability to develop and maintain good working relationship with management and employees
  • Strong interpersonal, communication and supervisory skills

WORKING CONDITIONS

  • Work is mainly performed in the production plant
  • Permanent Full-Time position
  • Graveyard shift times are 9pm-630am
