BC Lions’ Rolly Lumbala and Vikram Vij amongst panel of judges for this year’s BCFPA Taste Test Event

FoodProWest and Quest Food Exchange have teamed up again to host the 2014 BCFPA ‘Product of the Year’ judging event.

In a Dragon Den’s style atmosphere, over 35 hopeful companies  will be given two minutes to pitch their product. Judges will then score the product based on taste, innovation, packaging, and environmental impact.

The esteemed panel include: Elizabeth Crudginton (Director,Quest Food Exchange), Randy Shore (‘The Green Man Blog’, Vancouver Sun), Ryan Benn, (President, Alive Magazine/Teldon Media Group), Rolly Lumbala (FB, BC Lions), Vikram Vj (Chef & Founder, Vj’s Restaurant and Foods), Ned Bell (Executive Chef, Four Seasons), Jonathan Chovancek (Chef and Host of CBC’s ‘Village on a Diet’), Taryn Wa (Chef and Founder, Savoury Chef).

The BCFPA is a not-for-profit organization dedicated to representing all segments of the food, beverage, and natural health products processing industry. With a focus on sustainable and safe production, it provides training, support, and a strong voice for over 256 companies and 31,000 employees.

Quest Food Exchange is a not-for-profit organisation. With YVR (Vancouver Airport Authority) and Richmond Honda  as its official transportation sponsor, Quest Food Exchange partners with over 150 food suppliers, 400 social service agencies, and various stakeholders throughout the Lower Mainland . These organizations collaborate to reduce hunger with dignity by providing healthy and affordable food access to over 22,000 individuals a month, and assisting them in the transition towards self-sufficiency. The various training programs offered to low-income individuals include a mentorship training program, healthy eating workshops, and foodsafe certification.

The event will take place on Friday, May 16th, 2014 from 12:00 PM to 3:00PM at the Quest Food Exchange- located at 2020 Dundas Street, upper level.
